DESCRIPTION:Pottery at the Barn. Make Spring Botanical Mugs with Twig Ceramics. \n\n\n\nThis workshop we will be using a variety of foraged leaves and flowers to create beautiful natural patterns in the clay. The focus will be on slab rolling\, designing and pressing seasonal plants from the around the farm into your clay and then using hump moulds to form your slabs into dishes or bowls. These will be trimmed\, neatened and shaped\, then left to dry and fired. We will also be making small pinched bowls with leaf inlays decorating the bowls.  \n\n\n\nWho is this for? Anyone keen to get their hands stuck in with clay. DESCRIPTION:Fused Glass Art for Beginners\, Inspired by Nature. \n\n\n\nA brief introduction\, by Jazz\, to glass fusing and the days project.  We will then need to prepare the clay slabs that we will use to create our designs. Once the clay is rolled there will be a time to wander around the cutting garden and gather some specimens to use in your designs.  We will use our gathered plant material to press into the clay and create our designs. We will then mix up a plaster mix and cover the clay to create the relief design.  \n\n\n\nThis is a messy workshop and we will give you to wear\, an apron and a mask whilst we are mixing up the plaster.  We will leave our plaster to harden whilst we enjoy our lunch. \n\n\n\nAfter lunch you will return to your mold. You will need to remove the clay from the plaster and clean up the mold. DESCRIPTION:Sashiko is a Japanese form of decorative stitching and was originally used to patch kimonos.  It translates directly as “little stabs.” This visible mending technique has been practiced in Japan for thousands of years\, and is now used to mend tears in fabrics\, and as a decorative stitch in its own right. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarilyn will show you different techniques you can use as decoration or use as a patch to repair a tear.
